Title: This is why Finland has the best schools

I really envy the way Finnish run their schools, like it’s super amazing and it’s something we need to contemplate on how to at least implement their system, just even one of their practices. One thing that is exactly opposite to Ph system is the way Finnish train and produce quality teachers. I must give comment on this, because there are many Higher Education Institutions that offer Education degree but they are producing low quality graduates. This is not shaming some schools, but, we need to admit that training schools can greatly affect the way teachers teach. CHED must be in constant collaboration with DepEd, to better address the needs of the Department and regulate the teacher training institutions. Licensure examination must not only paper-pencil test, there must be actual teaching demonstration where applicants will be judged according to the criteria expected from a highly qualified teacher. Finnish students are excelling in the global rankings because teachers are very focus on teaching and interaction with their students. The case is very opposite in the Philippines. The Deped is inserting a lot of works and loads to teachers that even making quality lessons is set aside. Like, doing school forms, action researches, learning materials and many more. But then again, all these boil down to the financial status of our dear country. We don’t have enough funds for these things and that really affect the way we run our education system. But at least, the guidelines of hiring quality teachers should be strictly followed.
All these things are related to the course Social and Moral Philosophy. The established system in Finland reflects to the kind of people they are and the integrity they have. The good practices have been a tradition in their country and those define them. But, we can be like Finnish too, Filipinos can. It may takes time, but if the leaders are just willing, then there is still hope.
Reading this material is very helpful specially for education leaders, it gives them time to reflect and make judgement about the system that is running in their school and how to correct flaws that hinders student achievement.
