THE SCIENCE EDUCATION IN SCHOOLS

Science Education Curriculum nowadays is in the row of unending issues and concerns particularly the quality being offered by the schools and the teachers. The bane now is the fact that it yields to the production of not competitive graduates, unable to demonstrate the supposed scientific skills. This problem is a major challenge to all schools across the globe since the demand of highly competitive graduates is increasing, while the supply is endangered. One root cause of the decreasing number of science graduates is the fading perceived interest of the students to take science courses; perhaps this is due to the teachers who failed to demonstrate how interesting science is and how it plays a significant role in the society at large. The conundrum now is to strengthen science education through developing to the students the sense of valuing the significance of the latter scientific knowledge and skills as honed by the teachers in their lower years. K12 SCIENCE PROGRAM IN THE PHILIPPINES: STUDENT PERCEPTION ON ITS IMPLEMENTATION By: Montebon, D.R.             This paper aims to determine the perception of students on the new science curriculum in terms of the concepts they learn, the skills they acquire, and the values and attitu de they develop as well as to assess how judicious science teachers implement the new curriculum. It also seeks to help the Philippine education system reflect on the implementation of the K12 Science program. STUDENTS’ PERCEPTION OF SCIENCE CLASSES IN THE PHILIPPINES By: Bernardo, A.B.I., Limjap, A.A., Prudente, M .S., Roleda, L.S.             This paper aims to gain insight into the problems of poor achievement in science education by exploring students’ perceptions of their science classes. This was further conducted because among the countries in the world, Philippines was ranked last in International Math and Science Study, having a very low international rating. (Martin, Mullis, Gonzales, & Chrostowki, 2004). Researches pointed different reasons and factors as to the declining performance of Filipino students in Math and Science like inadequate science curriculum, poor preparation of teachers in terms of science content and pedagogy, the inefficient administration for the delivery of science education and lack of a science culture in the country. The revised Perceptions of Science Classes Survey (PSCS) questionnaire was used. The analysis revealed different dimensions of

Forget about the grammar and all (haha), this is my first blog entry (please be considerate). I'm quite sure! if not all, most of the delegates are still in the state of hysteria, (for sure, we feel sad every time something stops/ends to exist or from happening) from a week-long fun-filled camping blended with blissful and exciting activities, who could ever forget this year's camp? How I wish we could have it for 2 weeks? that would be expensive then. But anyways, allow me to recall some highlights happened during our summer camp and my say about the overall camp. Indeed, I considered this camp as 1 of the most unforgettable camps/gatherings, not because I'm part of the organizing team, but because the feeling of being blessed, contentment, euphoria, happiness, name it all, were all realized and felt. I just hoped we feel the same way. Every time i recall the happenings, 1 on the top list is the word "ANKLA", haha,, this sounds really funny and stil
